GENERAL MANAGER
Gavin Keith
027 437 5156
Gavin armed himself with a Dip Ag, but with a desire to be more involved with animals ventured into a stock-buying occupation with a freezing company, and eventually combined that with farm ownership. Injury meant a change of direction and an opportunity with Mainland Minerals came along to manage the Otago-Southland area.“Changing peoples attitudes towards fertiliser became the greatest hurdle, but there are now many long-term happily involved clients using the fine particle system, very successfully. Soil health has certainly determined the importance of stock health and performance, which has always been my greatest wish and through observation has certainly proven itself over and over. Balance of nutrient is the key to moving forward”.

Nigel McArthur
027 241 3349
Nigel is a born and bred Southlander and spent a lot of time on farms when he was growing up (his father was a shearer before studying to become a wool classer and buyer). Following various banking roles, Nigel worked at Silver Ferns Farms in their Mosgiel processing plant and was a truck driver for the last couple of years. He has always loved being out on the land, and is very enthusiastic about his at role Mainland Minerals. “I believe that fine particle fertiliser is light years ahead of conventional fertiliser – we look very carefully at the soil tests and tailor a specific solution for a particular need. Our products are environmentally friendly, very cost effective, and ensure improved plant and animal health”.
Nigel is based in Mosgiel and looks forward to being of assistance to all Otago farmers.
CENTRAL OTAGO
Stephen Booth

When Stephen found out what Mainland Minerals were doing in the fertiliser industry, he knew he had to be part of it . . . with the key being the obvious potential for stock health, and that it is an environmentally friendly fertiliser. He has a background in the pharmaceutical industry with Beecham Research Lab and then Faulding Pharmaceutical - it was here that Stephen had exposure to trace minerals and their health benefits. Stephen has been with Mainland Minerals Southern for four years now, and says he enjoys every day!CENTRAL & SOUTHERN SOUTHLAND
Alton McDonald
027 554 6001
Alton was born and raised on a Southland sheep and beef unit before, completing a BSc degree at Otago University. Work experience includes 6 years working in Soil and Earth Sciences at Massey University and more recently with various roles in the concrete industry.Alton says his heart has always been in the rural sector, particularly the Southland region. He chose to join Mainland Minerals Southern because of the efficiencies that fine particle fertiliser offers over alternatives, and the opportunity to work with farmers to improve their businesses by reducing inputs and maximising soil potential. Alton’s spare time is spent developing his own block in the Catlins.
