Bindarra Farm, SouthlandWe have been using Mainland Minerals fine particle fertiliser for 8 years. We choose Mainland Minerals because you can apply it by helicopter or plane, which means the fertiliser is applied to the whole farm - including over the plough bank and into the gullies. Also, blends can be tailor made for different areas of different soils. We also like that it is solid fertiliser ground down and applied in liquid form, gives a more even and accurate application.Some of the results we have noticed is better stock health, stock grazing down into the gullies as well as the tops. Healthier soil, good worm life (many in a square spade dig) and good root structure going down deeper. |

Fine Particle Fertiliser is the same as your traditional fertiliser, just ground down to a fine powder. It is an option that many farmers are turning to as they investigate which fertiliser will give them more bang for their buck! Jeff says there is a further cost saving that farmers can make, as it is possible for the plane to do two jobs in one. If you are wanting clover seed or swede seed applied, it can be put on at the same time as your fine particle fertiliser. Not only a cost saving, but a kick-start for the seed as it has all the nutrients it needs, readily available. |
