Gavin armed himself with a Dip Ag, but with a desire to be more involved with animals ventured into a stock-buying occupation with a freezing company, and eventually combined that with farm ownership. Injury meant a change of direction and an opportunity with Mainland Minerals came along to manage the Otago-Southland area.
“Changing peoples attitudes towards fertiliser became the greatest hurdle, but there are now many long-term happily involved clients using the fine particle system, very successfully. Soil health has certainly determined the importance of stock health and performance, which has always been my greatest wish and through observation has certainly proven itself over and over. Balance of nutrient is the key to moving forward”.
